Commentary of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova in connection with the arrest of blogger Kirill Fedorov

23 March 2022

Today, the scale of Russophobia that has spread throughout the world is horrifying and is acquiring the character of a real neo-holocaust.

Once again, we are witnessing the politicization of the human rights agenda by the West, which steadily continues to follow its established rhetoric, which has nothing to do with human rights values and runs counter to the norms of international law.

The arrest of Kirill Fedorov, the author of the Russian-language YouTube channel History of Weapons, who presented his patriotic view of the events taking place in Ukraine to the public, is a flagrant violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms in the territory of Latvia.

I call on the Latvian authorities to stop making human rights guarantees dependent on the political situation and immediately stop persecuting independent expert Kirill Fedorov.
