Ombudswomen of Russia and Azerbaijan held videoconference

On April 10, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova and Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva held a conversation via videoconference.

Tatiana Moskalkova and Sabina Aliyeva discussed a wide range of human rights issues, as well as prospects for cooperation. The parties paid special attention to the human rights protection during the coronavirus pandemic.

Tatiana Moskalkova shared the experience of the federal and regional ombudsmen in implementing measures on countering the coronavirus infection.

The High Commissioner also spoke about the appeals received during this period.

"Complaints about the lack of masks, medicines, violation of the labor regime, access to lawyers, medical provision in prisons are immediately considered and resolved in close cooperation with state authorities," the Russian Ombudswoman noted.

The Ombudswomen of Russia and Azerbaijan emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating the coronavirus.

At the end of the conversation, Tatiana Moskalkova invited Sabina Aliyeva to take part in the International conference on exchange of best practices of ombudsmen.
